Hello Adventurers,
If you’ve been wondering, what we here at Tinker Troll Games has been up to in the creating of Epic Brick Adventures, it has been a whole lot of creature creation... plus a myriad of less interesting things!
I thought you might be curious about the process… plus I'll share some timeline info with you first!
We are writing at full speed, revising rules, tweaking the many charts, adjusting the layout, having many back and forth emails with various manufacturers to get everything ready for all the books and other products to be created in all their brickish glory. The artists are on the final stages of refinement for the book illustrations and they are still cranking out the creature illustrations for the MUC Deck as fast as they can.
Everything is slowly coming together! 5 Books with over 400 pages of awesome rules and adventuring content, as well as over 100 illustrations by 14 artists, 72 illustrated cards, Bags of Bricks, TrackPacks, GM Screens and all the other great stuff.
With all that on our plate, we are running a little bit behind schedule, but we’re hoping to get the PDFs out to everybody by mid to late October. These things are hard to predict exact timelines for. Trying to guess in May when we will have items out to folks in the fall is not really a science. I do apologize for not keeping you folks as informed as I should have though. I will aim to do better there.
If we nail the October timing, we will be on schedule to get the printed books into people's hands by late January to the end of February, depending where you are located.
Ok, on to the fun stuff!
We have been hard at work creating nearly 100 amazing creatures. Most are completely original but there will be some old favourites like Dragons, Spiders and Giants.
So first step in the MUC (Monster of Unusual Creation) process is to wrangle up our expert brick builders and brainstorm, design and create creatures that would thrive in different brick environments. Whether we come up with the build for the creature first or the description of what the creature can do first, depends on the creature and the imaginative minds at work. Sometimes we just start building and see what comes to life!
We build and refine designs out of bricks, write down a list of their characteristics and how they will interact with other creatures and the brick folk of the various realms. We also note the environment they are usually found in. Is this a dessert, jungle, water or mountain creature? What do they eat? Are they friendly, aggressive, helpful or just plain weird? Somewhere along that process, we discover a name to attach to it.
I take a bunch of photos of the creatures and then the descriptions of their habits and general characteristics are sent off to a handful of amazing artists who sketch their designs. Designs are refined and proofed and approved when ready.
The finalized images will be used in the Core Rulebook and in the MUC Deck.
The Photos are also sent out to some of our awesome volunteers, who create the instructions for building the creatures through Stud.io software. By the time you receive printed books, we are hoping to have most of the building instructions available for download for free on our website.
That's about it for now. I will endeavour to keep the information flowing a little more freely as we ramp up to the PDF release date.
Until then, go forth and Build!
